ANNUAL VEGETABLE SALES HAPPENING AT THE CHILDREN?S HOME
The Children’s Home kids will be selling vegetables, fruit and flowers Tuesdays from 10 AM to 12 PM and Thursdays from 4 PM to 6 PM, at our entrance on Reynolda Road. These are tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, zucchini, watermelon, banana peppers, jalapeños, zinnias, sunflowers, cantaloupe, beans, and squash that the kids planted, cultivated and have picked for the community to enjoy. The farm provides a valuable asset to the kids by allowing for therapy and for work-study jobs. Monies made from the sales help for programming with the kids. On sales days we update our Farm Stand Hotline (336-721-7624) as to what will be on sale. Come and explore all that the kids have planted!
The Children's Home, located at 1001 Reynolda Road, on 212 acres in the heart of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was established in 1909.

Hospice Taste of the Town is the major fundraiser for Hospice of the Piedmont, a not for profit agency that cares for families right here in the Triad every year.
All proceeds from the event are used to help patients who would otherwise be unable to afford end-of-life care. Funds are also used to provide grief support to anyone in the community following the death of a loved one and for Kids Path, a special children’s program that cares for children coping with illness and loss.
For the first time, Randolph County citizens can pay traffic tickets and related costs online. A new system, payNCticket, built by the N.C. Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC), allows citizens to make online payments via credit or debit card for most waivable traffic citations.
Overall, North Carolina courts handle the payment of more than half a million waivable offense citations (including traffic) per year. In fiscal year 2008-2009, more than 644,000 of these waivable offense citations were paid in the state, 8,477 of which were in Randolph County. Prior to payNCticket, Randolph County citizens had to pay fines and related court costs at the courthouse or by mail.
This new system provides immediate benefits to citizens, court officials and staff. While it provides a more convenient payment option for citizens, payNCticket will allow for quicker disposition of cases due to automatic updates of case records. This new system also is expected to decrease courthouse traffic as well as wait times for citizens of Randolph County who still wish to pay their fees in person.
PayNCticket is being rolled out county-by-county throughout the state. All counties are expected to be using the system by late Summer 2010.

Guilford County Schools (GCS) has a large number of students who live at or below poverty level. 48.5% of GCS students qualify for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program.
When parents can’t afford school supplies for their children, teachers often make up the difference. According to a national study, teachers spend $500-$800 per year of their own money to supply their classrooms.
You now have an opportunity to help teachers get supplies into the hands of the students that need them most!
Introducing the Teacher Supply Warehouse for Guilford County Schools!
Changing a logo? Have leftover specialty items from an event? Have discontinued product samples? Don’t know what to do with them? Donate them to the Teacher Supply Warehouse! Here’s how it works:
Call GCS at 370-8355 or email adamsc4@gcsnc.com with a list of items you have to donate. All donated items are available to GCS teachers free of charge. The only payment we ask is a thank-you letter to one of our donors. It’s that simple! But it won’t succeed without your help!
